A Memorial for Jimmy
"Big Bird, Big Red, The Commissioner, The Landlord." Jimmy defined the Fitchburg Fire Dept for most of his 40 years on the job. His dedication to duty on the Fitchburg Fire Dept was only surpassed by his commitment to his family; his wife Denise and Fitchburg firefighters P.J. and Sean Roy.
For years, Jimmy was The Man on Ladder 3 downtown, much of that time spent working alongside Richie "Sarge" Hawthorne. For the last 12 years he was the chauffeur of Engine 4 downtown. An ever present figure on the fireground, on duty or off, Jimmy knew damn well where just about every hydrant in the city was and just about every cross street. You always knew where he stood, especially if his opinion on something (or even you!) was less than positive.
Even though he landed upstairs, I'd wager he's on top of hell venting the roof. At least it's where he'd want to be.
